In 1989, at the age of 19, I found myself at a crossroads. I had to make an important decision.

I was studying engineering in my second year of college. But I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue with it.
One day after classes, I asked my father if I could change paths to something I was more interested in.

As I voiced my desire to explore pursuits aligned with my passions, I could sense the initial shock reflected on my parents' faces. A heavy silence hung in the air, with unspoken concerns about societal expectations, and the perceived gap in my education. Despite my resolve, I had prepared contingency plans, presenting two options to my parents: completing a Bachelor of Arts degree or delving into computer programming and applications.

Amidst lingering apprehension about my future, my father (Appa), imparted a timeless lesson: "Let your actions speak louder than words, and always extend a helping hand to others in pursuit of their goals." With his unwavering support, I found the courage to forge ahead with my decision.

In that moment, I may not have fully grasped the profound wisdom behind his words. Yet, as I reflect on the journey that unfolded thereafter, I am profoundly grateful for the invaluable gift bestowed upon me by my father. His guidance instilled within me a commitment to relentless self-improvement and the noble endeavour of aiding others in achieving their aspirations.

To my beloved Appa, I express heartfelt gratitude for your boundless love and sage counsel. Your legacy lives on within me as I continue to embrace the ongoing journey of learning and growth.

In 1990, I celebrated a milestone in my life when I received my BA degree. My parents were filled with joy, and I was eager to dive into the world of software programming, having enrolled in a Computer Programming course. However, life had other plans. Instead of following the tech path, I found myself stepping into the world of sales. I joined a computer training consultancy firm in Nagpur, Maharashtra, where I spent three transformative years.

As I sought greater challenges, I relocated to Mumbai. Sales was not easy in a large city like Mumbai. There, I honed my craft in sales, joining a Delhi-based company, Tulip Software, which has its Zonal office in Mumbai.

My journey took another exciting turn when I joined Tata Unisys (now TCS) and relocated to Ahmedabad to spearhead their Gujarat operations. During this period, I climbed the corporate ladder, earning promotions annually and taking part in a ground-breaking initiative to launch an EdTech product in 1998—a concept far ahead of its time in India. This initiative bolstered my confidence in staying ahead with technology.

Parallel to my professional growth, I pursued an Executive MBA in Marketing, enhancing my business and managerial skills. However, after 15 years in sales, I felt a creeping stagnancy. I considered shifting my career focus. Research led me to the every expanding Retail Industry in India, which was grappling with the challenge of training employees in retail technology—a perfect intersection of my past experiences.

This shift steered me toward people management, a field that resonated with me deeply. Transitioning from sales to human resources, I landed a role at Reliance Retail as Head of Talent Transformation - IT. This role required me to develop employee capabilities across various departments, utilizing process and application training extensively.

My journey at Otis Elevator as Head of Training & Development was another defining chapter. Here, I grew from L&D roles to a General Manager in Human Resources, aligning training with organizational competencies and launching strategic initiatives.

Reflecting on my journey from a humble beginning to leading a dynamic team of 25 as a CHRO, I am deeply moved and grateful to all my line managers who instilled the confidence in me. My gratitude to all of them. My career evolution from sales to human resources showcases my ability to scale operations and lead significant projects, working alongside industry leaders to sharpen my strategic and leadership skills.

This vast experience positions me uniquely to mentor and empower emerging leaders through my Emerging Leaders Hub. Here, we develop leadership qualities and strategic thinking, equipping professionals to confidently navigate their career paths.

The highlight of my career has been directly influencing over 1000 mid to senior professionals, helping them harness strategic career growth. Witnessing their success has affirmed the impact of my work.

Through guiding others, I've also refined my own skills in leadership coaching and strategy, enhancing my understanding across various industries. This journey has fueled my commitment to impact a million working professionals, driving my mission forward at the Emerging Leaders Hub.

Looking back on my career, I am deeply thankful for the opportunities that have allowed me to make a significant difference in the lives of numerous professionals and leaders.

I've had the privilege of coaching over 1000 professionals in India and the Middle East. Working closely with these individuals has not only improved their leadership skills but has also enhanced my knowledge across various sectors.

I am profoundly grateful to have received the “NATIONAL BEST TRAINING & COACHING LEADERS AWARD” from the National Business Awards for Leadership and Excellence. This prestigious recognition is a testament to my commitment and impact in the field.
